Dear students and physicians,
Yesterday, the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) announced several changes to the Step exams, including a major shift for the USMLE® Step 1, which will change to a pass/fail exam no sooner than January 1, 2022.
You’re probably wondering what this means for you. All students should continue studying for the score-based exam. It isn’t confirmed when the change will occur and until it is, it makes sense to prepare for a numeric test. It is easier to transition your strategy to pass-fail than the transition from a pass-fail strategy to a numeric score strategy. Other residency match recommendations are expected and they will shift attention to new prep strategies. Don’t worry. With over 60 years of test prep expertise, we are well-positioned to help students prepare for pass/fail exams and other changes, and we will teach you exactly what you need to know.
If you want to learn more about the NBME’s changes, please watch this video where I breakdown the key takeaways. And remember, no matter what changes or challenges come your way, we’re here to help.
